About the website name

I like to imagine the internet as a spiderweb. That's why I use the word 'web' to talk about the internet. Everyone is a little spider living in a giant spiderweb, weaving little threads and owning their own corner to live in. This website is my corner, and everything I create and post online are my own threads. And websites link to each other, combining threads and weaving a giant web.

But I don't actually live online. And because I'll probably be posting things about my life I decided to call this site 'beyond the web'. Because there is more beyond just being online. I'm an actual person, and you are too. We have lives offline, and most people seem to forget that. A lot of people post every little thing about themselves and expect other people to do the same. Or they get upset that not everyone is as chronically online as them.

So as you interact with the things I put on the web, try to remember that there is more to life then what I post. And if (for some reason) you decide to spread hate, just remember that there is a real human being on the other side.

About my name

I chose my name because of the spiderweb-analogy. And what better name than 'charlotte on the web' (different spellings may apply).

I'm just a spider weaving her web. And even as I'm typing this, I'm literally on the web. Thus the name was born.

I'll admit it goes against my whole 'beyond the web' thing, because when I'm offline that name doesn't apply to me. But maybe that's the whole point. Because when I log off I'm not 'charlotte on the web' anymore. And when I log off I can leave all the negativity online behind. I can just exist offline and not think about all the bad things I saw on the web.

Maybe I'm thinking too much about it. Maybe you just chose your username because it sounded cool. And I wish that was me, I wish I could just create a name without thinking about is for months. That's even the reason I never posted anything online. Because I don't want to use my real name, but just making up sounds isn't something I like.
